Artist/Company: Room 9 Dance Theatre
“Complex, powerful and humanistic exploration of the marginalized…thoughtful, insightful, well considered and well-made.”
How much does it cost for human values? Underneath the glittering façade of the global financial centre with highest housing cost in the world, are we still able to find a place called “Home”? Inspired by a street sleeper, the work assesses the predicament of contemporary Hong Kong, a city where the “great dream” is also stressing the people out. Entering the inner worlds of two figures; one is forsaken by the materialistic city and the other tries hard to fit into the ridiculous world, what can you see?
Created by Max Lee, “Hong Kong’s most vibrant dancer with new dimensions today”, the work questions the once-invincible belief that is now exhausting both Hong Kongers and Australians. After two-times-commissioned by the HK Arts Festival, his latest work manifests a unique way of story-telling with dance and theatrical elements.
A programme of “G’Day! Hong Kong” - the first-ever multidisciplinary showcase of Hong Kong talents at the ADL Fringe Festival.
